More than just a story of tarmac and infrastructure, it is a story that often times trascends the balance between the development of technology, growth, and the personal cost of expansion-all in a small city we call home.

The home of ancestors, Albert and Ida Ringenwald
|
Imagine opening a book to find your own ancestors lost property here in 1937, and that their son would give up a career in professional baseball to earn the first issued pilot's license on the same site. Says Carol (Ringenwald) Labbe, my dear mom, "I've lived in Manchester my whole life, and never knew there was so much history to the airport! I'm so glad they (the authors) got this all down before the information was lost. Thank you Ed and Moe!!"

Hon. John Lynch and Ed Brouder
|
The whole project's inception goes back more than five years when Manchester native Moe Quirin suggested to former colleague and long time friend Ed Brouder that there "was a story here". Subsequent visits to Manchester from New Jersey where Quirin now resides were times of amazement for him as the airport grew to a scope he had never imagined. To Quirin, an avid transportation and railway aficionado, air travel was a logical progression of his studies. For Brouder, the stories of how the growth affected the neighbors was what eventually piqued his interest; the resulting research forging his resolve to help tell the tale.
